Such is the reputation of the Hog Roast South Essex brand and team that even the big stars of our world and nation will call upon us from time to time. We’re not ones to get star struck easily, but when the former Chelsea women’s football manager and current USA national women’s team head coach attends one of your events…well let’s just say some in the Hog Roast South Essex team were a little awe inspired.
Yes, this past weekend the Hog Roast South Essex team were privileged to be catering for the immense Emma Hayes OBE and her family for their mum’s 80th birthday. A seven time Women’s Super League winner, five time FA Cup winner, a Champions League runner up, a gold medallist for coaching the USA national team at the Paris Olympics, and a royally honoured MBE and OBE, there are few guests that have come to Hog Roast South Essex that are quite as inspiring and impressive as Emma. That may have added a little pressure to the Hog Roast South Essex team, but after being able to chat with her, have a good little joke about the Mayor of London coming to meet her, and getting some photos with her, that pressure was instantly lifted as we were just able to enjoy a wonderful time with a wonderful person.
Still, however, we knew our cooking would need to really be up to scratch to give a little back to Emma and her lovely family. So, of course, what better way than to provide our classic hog roast menu along with a few additions from our gourmet barbecue range. Both impressive menus on their own, together they created an excellent range of flavours, textures, and tastes! Our hog roast came with its usual accompaniments of sage and onion stuffing, golden crackling, apple sauce, as well as new potatoes, fries, and veg and halloumi skewers. From our barbecue range we
then added peri marinated roasted chicken thighs and our gourmet sausages, all to be served with gluten free rolls and wraps. For Emma, her mum, Nicky, and all the family, that menu certainly lived up the billing for an excellent 80th celebration!
