At Hog Roast Billericay, the final weekend closing out May was all about the King of Rock and Roll and one very special birthday guest, as we delivered an extra special dining experience to fit into a very special Elvis themed 80th birthday celebration.
There’s quite a few Elvis fans in the Hog Roast Billericay kitchens. Come by on any regular afternoon and there’s a fair chance you’ll hear a bit of Burning Love ringing out, maybe an impromptu karaoke session for Suspicious Minds or Can’t Help Falling Love, or a rock out session with Jailhouse Rock. In between all that, the hog roasts do still get made somewhere – but with 6-8 hours of cooking time to wait for, a quick rock-a-long doesn’t go amiss.
But our fandom in the Hog Roast Billericay kitchens pale in comparison to our birthday boy of last weekend, who took his 80th celebration as an opportunity to honour his favourite king of rock and roll. Elvis themed through the party with cutouts and pictures depicting the various eras of Elvis, and Elvis themed through our own menu as we produced some excellent fresh foods inspired by those dishes that we know the king loved in his own life. Our signature hog roast, for one, being a mainstay of the event, and a mainstay of Elvis’ typical dining requests. Our roast was served along with fresh apple sauce, sage and onion stuffing, and crispy crackling. As another ode to the kind, we had 20 burgers up for grabs, served with fried onions and cheese, along with freshly made fries, mixed salad, gourmet slaw, tomato and mozzarella salad, and grilled veg and halloumi skewers as a veggie alternative to the burgers and roast.
This fun Elvis-themed twist on an 80th birthday celebration added a tonne more to the day. It created a brilliant atmosphere with everyone getting in on the theme, and also just posed an extra excuse to put on a brilliant soundtrack over the whole party!
Our thanks from one big Elvis fan to another – the Hog Roast Billericay team were delighted to join can cater for your 80th birthday celebration!
