When summer comes we expect glorious sunshine, clear skies, and warm days all the way throughout. But that just is not the reality most of the time in the UK. Our summer’s are as likely to have a record breaking heatwave as they are to then have days of wet and wind. It’s why any time the sun does appear, all of us rush out to the park, garden, beach, with a barbecue in tow, just to soak up as much of the “summer” as possible.
For a caterer that enjoys providing seasonal barbecues for celebrations around South Essex and Rochford, that of course impacts us greatly. All summer round, the Hog Roast Rochford team will put together barbecue events for guests, only to then find that the day just is not quite conducive for it. Never to be bested by the weather, however, your Hog Roast Rochford always seek to adapt and overcome, whatever the weather may throw our way.
Proof of this came at the weekend, when Andy of Rochford hired our gourmet barbecue menu for his very special 80th birthday celebration. Thinking it would be a glorious June day (because why wouldn’t you) a barbecue shared amongst 30 friends and family members seemed like the perfect way to celebrate. The weather in Rochford, of course, had other ideas. A touch windy, you could say, with smatterings of showers threatening, but both the Hog Roast Rochford team and Andy still made do to make it a wonderful celebration for his 80th. When you can’t rely on the tempestuous weather, you make do with your own plans anyway. Head chef Dohnis and the Hog Roast Rochford team set up our serving tent and did what we could to protect our foods and guests from the elements. When we’re cooking a barbecue, it is going to be served fresh and hot, whatever the weather may say. That Andy and co still got their fill of gourmet burgers with cheese and fried onions, Thai chicken kebabs, BBQ pulled pork from our signature hog roast, and plenty of refreshing sides to make it a barbecue worth braving the weather for!
