Daring costumes, spooky decorations and terrifying flicks are all part and parcel of Halloween. But let’s be honest, All Hallows Eve just wouldn’t be the same without having something delicious to sink your teeth into, right? While sugar-filled snacks are often considered to be the go-to for sustenance during spooky season, here at Hog Roast Boreham, we’re naturally of the opinion that hog roasts are where it’s at – and it seems that we’re not alone!
Perfect for all occasions, this ancient cooking method is adored by many – and rightfully so. With drool-worthy, fork-tender meats and irresistible sides to send your tastebuds into overdrive, who needs sweets? But even if you are still craving a sugary snack by the end of this meat-fuelled delight, you’re bound to enjoy one of our many homemade dessert options. We’re getting peckish just thinking about it…
Since our inception nearly three decades ago, Hog Roast Boreham has had the pleasure of celebrating each and every Halloween at fancy-dress parties, school discos, themed raves – you name it, we’ve done it. But with lockdown restrictions still, very much in place, things this year were very different.
However, ahead of the annual festivities, our team worked extremely hard to come up with all-new measures that make it safe for us to serve at all events including full PPE, the sanitation station, staggered serves and socially-distanced queues. So, when Gary reached out to ask if we could provide a tantalising spread for his employees, we couldn’t wait to get involved.
For the lunchtime menu, Hog Roast Boreham served our classic hog roast feast which included a full-size rotisserie-cooked pig, coated in a layer of crispy crackling and served with sage and onion stuffing, coleslaw, applesauce, mixed salads and corn on the cob with a meat-free alternative of grilled veggie kebabs.
Instead of another day at the office, Gary had asked that all staff show up to work in fancy dress in honour of the special day. Everyone’s costumes were super creative, and many found a way to incorporate their face-coverings into their outfits! The food too proved a huge hit, and everyone followed the rules to the letter, ensuring the service went as smoothly as possible.
