What better day of the year to get married than on the summer solstice when the happy couple can party the night away on the longest day of the year and make the most of the late sunset. This is exactly what Marie and Andrew thought when they decided to choose this particular date to get hitched. They wanted an outdoor evening wedding reception and needed some superior food that could be cooked and served outdoors, whilst also being sophisticated enough to be suitable for their wedding day. After searching in vain for a while, they found everything they were looking for here at Hog Roast Heybridge!
The couple were thrilled with our varied and elegant wedding menus, and also hugely relieved that although we specialise in hog roasts, we have the ability to cater for a wide range of tastes and dietary needs! They wanted to go all out for their wedding feast for their 150 guests, starting with a canape welcome reception. They were spoilt for choice with the variety of our canape options and after much deliberation, chose mini quiches, fillet of beef, pate encroute, smoked salmon, duck wraps and mini gourmet sausages. The rest of their exciting menu consisted of a classic hog roast served with crispy crackling and our special homemade apple sauce, along with tender spring lamb as a second meat option, and grilled veggie skewers for the meat and dairy free alternative, all served with seasonal summer vegetables and new potatoes!
Whilst everyone was attending the ceremony and posing for photographs afterwards, the Hog Roast Heybridge team were working like clockwork at the outdoor reception venue on the final touches of the couple’s varied menu, which we had spent the day freshly preparing on-site using carefully selected locally sourced ingredients. From the canapes to the pork and everything in between, everyone loved the food and loved being in the scenic outdoor setting, which allowed the wedding party to make the most of the summer solstice.
Even when the sun eventually did go down, the party was still in full swing and the Hog Roast Heybridge team were really pleased to have played such a key part of a very special evening wedding reception!
