One thing that everyone knows about the British summertime is that good weather is never guaranteed and the sun can disappear just as quickly as it came. This change in weather can disrupt all kinds of events, but luckily Hog Roast Dagenham’s catering tastes just as good in the rain as it does in the sunshine!
This July, Hog Roast Dagenham catered for a family gathering that took place in South Essex. The gathering was hosted to bring together extended family to enjoy a great meal, lots of catching up, and plenty of fun and games. For the menu, our catering manager Adam was hired to provide our Gourmet BBQ option, which is always a favourite in the summer months. Since the event was planned for July, it was expected that the party would take place outdoors, with the venue set to be on the local family farm. When the day of the event arrived and the weather took a turn for the worse, plans had to change last minute to avoid the party being a washout!
On the day of the event, Adam and the Hog Roast Dagenham team arrived at the farm and were asked to set up our station in the barn conversion, to avoid battling the wind and rain all day. The guests were also going to be gathering in the barn to shelter from the bad weather and hope that the sun makes an appearance later on in the day. For the catering, we prepared a wide variety of delicious dishes, including succulent pork sausages, veggie sausages, halloumi and vegetable skewers, marinated chicken kebabs, and BBQ spareribs. These dishes were served in fresh bread rolls and accompanied by homemade chips, seasonal salad dishes, and gourmet coleslaw. The menu was enjoyed from the shelter of the barn and our good food definitely helped to lift the spirits on this rainy day.
