Earlier this academic year, Hog Roast Chipping Ongar was contacted by a local secondary school to provide catering at their open day this May. The event is being hosted for students to show off their work to parents and friends through exhibits and exercise books. This is something that the students have been looking forward to and has motivated them to do their best work since it will be on display for others to see. The event is set to be a great evening and will be even more enjoyable with a menu from Hog Roast Chipping Ongar on offer. For the catering, we have been hired to serve a classic hog roast, with a few additional dishes. This menu is sure to go down a treat and will be a great addition to the event.
On the day of the event, the Hog Roast Chipping Ongar team arrived at the school in the afternoon and set up our catering station on the central playground. We began by preparing the hog, which needed to slow-roast for five hours before serving. Once ready, the pork was expertly carved and served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. Additionally, we served succulent pork sausages and halloumi and vegetable skewers. For the side dishes, the guests enjoyed homemade chips, gourmet coleslaw, and a green leaf salad. Overall, our menu had plenty of dishes on offer, allowing everyone to enjoy a delicious evening meal.
